Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you are alive.

On Sunday night I went to see the incredible Ben Howard play live. And as expected, it was magical. I think he’s one of the most talented artists out there today and every lyric of every song speaks to me.
This one in particular, gives me goosebumps.
amy merrick is a genius.
I was incredibly excited when I got my bicycle at the beginning of July. But then somehow I sort of forgot about it. Today was supposed to be clean the house Sunday, but the sun’s been shining, and there’s been a lovely breeze and my new sweater was calling my name. So I hopped on and met a girlfriend from some tea and gossip. Tonight: Ben Howard concert as part of Pop Montreal.
So in case you haven’t heard or haven’t been reading your blogs and what-not, today is the first day of Fall. And I, like so many others, love fall. It’s makes me want to be all cozy and do all sorts of cozy things and use the word cozy a lot.
But seriously, today could not be more fall-ish in Montreal. It’s grey, it’s cool, it’s been drizzling and raining all day, and I could not be happier to have an excuse to stay home and bask in the, um, cozyness.
I tried my hand at baking zucchini bread for the first time earlier today, and lo and behold, it was a success! And awfully delicious too. Shortly, James will go off to another gig and I will have the house to myself. No chores today, I’ve lit candles everywhere and it’s just going to be books and movies for me……and Facebook…..and blogs…..but mostly books and movies! And wine.
Happy Fall everyone!!!

Lats Thursday night, my life’s dream was fulfilled.
That may sounds like a bit of an exaggeration, but I kid you not, I was made one of the happiest, luckiest girls on the planet. My once again kick-ass company managed to score 4 Madonna tickets. Working in almost all male environment, it’s rare that the girls are able to really do something completely for them. Tickets usually revolve around hockey games and rarely does something like this come up.
But these weren’t any old Madonna tickets. Nor sirree. These were 350$ floor seats….for MADONNA….THE QUEEN. and I will never again/would never have gotten to experience this any other way. The last time I saw her, I drove to Connecticut with a group just to be able to catch a far away glimpse, so this was literally a dream come true.
And let me tell you, she did not disappoint. Not even for a second. I get so tired of the old “Oh, Madonna is such a biatch” debate. Because really, WHO CARES? She’s a genius who has managed to brand and re-brand herself for decades. And at 54, she looks bloody amazing!
Love her or hate her, take her or leave her, there really is no denying that she’s the queen and knows exactly what she’s doing.

Say whaaaaaaaat? Madge only 25 feet from me!
“By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.”
- Helen Hunt Jackson, September, 1830-1885
Since I am still living in the la-la land that was our BC vacation and fantasizing about moving there and it being summer all year long (remember I said fantasizing), I haven’t gotten that usual “Ugh, I am SO ready for Fall!” feeling.
Instead I am still running around buying summer dresses when really it’s the end of August I should be thinking about cozy sweaters and tall boots.
Never-the-less, it is 30 degrees here today and I will continue to drink cool refreshing cocktails and run around in pretty sleeveless dresses because really, these days are the best days. The dog days of summer.
